FEARISM/FEAROLOGY VOCABULARIES AND DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED IN FEAROLOGICAL STUDIES DEVELOPED BY FEAROLOGIST MICHAEL ENEYO (PhD)

Abstract nature of fear: The type of fear that exists only in abstract state but capable of creating images of fear through thought and reason.

Accident of fear: A false or imaginary creation of images of fear, which are not real. A deceptive fearing mental or empirical images/objects. Being afraid of something that ought not to be feared

Acquaintance method: Is a fearological technique that stipulates that familiar things create less fear than unfamiliar. This method was coined by Michael Eneyo in his fearological ethics as a method to reduce fear or anxiety through gradual exposure to the feared object or situation.

Amalgamation of fear: It is a phrase used to explain how Subba and Fisher approach the concept of fear from two different backgrounds to arrive at the same doctrine of fear.

Amygdala: A part of the brain involved in processing emotions, including fear and pleasure.

Antecedent fear: All forms of past events which generate fearing experiences.

Anticipatory Anxiety: Anxiety or worry about future events or situations.

Anxiety: A feeling of unease, worry, or fear often related to an uncertain or future event.

Categories of fear: Categories of fear is the division of fear into two broad parts: {positive/negative} from which all forms of fear are discussed.

Complementarist: refers to a person who believes in the importance of every existence. According to complementarist, everything in the world has existential value and that; nothing is useless in the real sense of the word. They are missing-links to each other.

Conscientious court: The meeting of contrary opinions in one’s conscience where judgment or verdict is taken based on the conviction of conscience (the conscientious court is the most perfect: It is devoid of bias).

Corroborative principle: Within fearism school, corroborative principle is an application of courageous efforts in making decision through the influence of love.

Covid-fear: The fear and anxiety associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, including its health and social implications.

Defearology: To study on how fear can be neutralized or eliminated

Dread: Intense fear or apprehension of something unpleasant or threatening.

Emotion: A strong feeling or state of mind characterised by various physiological and psychological changes.

Enthralling: Captivating or fascinating, capable of holding someone’s attention or interest in an intense and enjoyable way.

Eschatological fear: Fear about the fate of man and entire creation after death.

Exacerbation: The worsening or aggravation of a problem.

Faculty of fear: The different areas of fear such as mental, physical, metaphysical, sensual, empirical, rational, material, element, thought, forest, ocean, etc, that control different forms of fear within fear territory.

Fear brocading: The act of using pleasant expression to cover up unpleasant event. Example: He has passed on (He has died)

Fear climax: The peak or highest point of fear experienced during a threatening situation.

Fear coalition: A point where positive and negative fears in a person meet for the purpose of taking decision(s).

Fear conflict: A conflicting or contrary interest between the positive fear and the negative fear when a decision is to be made. It is a point where the positive fear and the negative fear are almost at the same demanding forces such that reaching a decision becomes difficult if not impossible.

Fear dilemma: A confused state during the enduring conflict between the positive and the negative fear before a decision is reached.

Fear memory: Part of the brain where all fearing thoughts are processed.

Fear storage: The part of the brain where the thoughts of fear are stored.

Fear territory: It is that region in which all forms of fearing categories of things are found (both the material and the immaterial). The society can be loosely referred to as fear territory.

Fear: An emotional threat that causes panic, tension, pain and unstable state of mind. Within the framework of fearism, fear is a motivator, controller and director of human actions, which can be positive or negative.

Fear-based: Originating from or driven by fear.

Fear-driven: Motivated or influenced strongly by fear.

Fearhood: Belonging to the class of fear

Fearical: Being fearful in nature

Fearigram: The use of drawing and diagram and other learning objects and illustration in fear study

Fearism (philosophy): An emerging philosophy that deals with the study of fear (see also philosophy of fear.)

Fearist: One who practices or follows the fearism movement: An advocate of human liberation from fear.

Fearminology: The study of fear terms.

Fear-mongering: Spreading exaggerated or unfounded fear to manipulate public opinion or behaviour.

Fearological Ethics: Ethical principles and considerations related to the study and management of fear.

Fearologist: A person who chooses fearology as a field of study: A specialist in the systematic study of fear.

Fearology: The study of fear in relation to humans, its causes, effects, and management.

Fearpuzzle: The kind of fear that is difficult to understand

Fight or flight response: The body’s physiological reaction to a perceived threat, preparing to either confront the danger or flee from it.

Freeze response: A defensive reaction where an individual becomes immobile in response to a threat.

Future fear: The threats constituted by the combination of the antecedent and the present fear in an attempt to project or predict future society.

History of fear: A systematic study of past incidents of fearing events, both in its negative and in the positive senses. The purpose is to learn the techniques of how to overcome negative fear and build on the positive ones for a better society.

Horror of fear: A very strong feeling of natural threat that increases the rate of shock, awe, pains, dismay, fear, dread, astonishment: It is an extreme state of depression or apprehension.

Hypothalamus: A region in the brain that regulates various physiological functions, including fear responses and stress.

Love jurisdiction: A point where fearless or fearful decision is taken based on the influence of {positive/negative} love.

Love-fear method: A fearological method introduced by Michael Eneyo which advocates that fear action or inaction should be carried out from the background of love. Only love can conquer fear. It is a fearological approach that combines feelings of love and security to help individuals confront and overcome their fears.

Mental courage: The courageous/fearless thought that drives us into taking positive/negative decisions.

Mental court: The point of mental evaluation and judgment based on fact or assumption. The judgment given in the mental court can be right or wrong.

Mental fear: Fear created from a person’s imagination, which might be true or false.

Negative fear expeller: Negative fear expeller is a courageous moral impulse that consistently propels us to act rightly irrespective of the situation.

Negative fear/love: The amalgamation or the emergence of negative fear and negative love to make a decision that is negative or wrong.

Negative fear: The kind of fear that limits mankind from attainment of positive goals. It is also an active/inactive response to the achievement of a goal through unethical means.

Negative love: The love that leads to sin. In philosophy of fear, negative love refers to a fearing/fearless decision based on the influence of negative love.

Object nature of fear: Physical object with the potential to create fear.

Padded fear: It is a systematic concealment of fearing incident to achieve a particular aim or goal

Philo-psychological studies of fear: The philosophical analysis of the psychological studies of how thoughts generate fearful images and fearing imaginations.

Philosophy of fear: A philosophical school of thought that deals with the study of the nature, scope, territory, causes and impacts of fear. It is concerned with the attempts to provide solutions to the problems of fear using its specific methodology.

Philosophy: The study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and reality.

Positive fear/love: Amalgamation or the emergence of positive fear and positive love to make positive decision.

Positive fear: That category of fear that helps us to act rightly: It is the driving force for positive development.

Positive love: Love that is morally justified. In fearism school, it is used to describe a positive fearing/fearless decision made based on the influence of positive love.

Potentiality of fear: Fearing nature in every existing being which is yet to manifest.

Present fear: The totality of current existential conditions that can instil fear.

Threat: A potential danger or harmful event that may cause fear or harm.

Unificationist: A term used in describing a person who believes in the unity of the multiplicity of things and their opposites as a natural order of the workings of the universe. Unificationists argue that love is enough to bring everything together.


Unproductive incident of fear: Getting worried and panicky over what cannot change or be solved.
